Neat commentary on our publication:
Most of your Chamber of Commerce-y tourist handouts are pretty
interchangeable. I found one that was different: it's called From
Lockhouse to Lighthouse, and it's billed as "A Daytripper's Guide to Havre
de Grace".
The reason why it's different, I think, is that it's mostly the
work of one
person: editor/publisher/ad seller Ellie Mencer. None of
the usual
let's-filter-it-through-the-committee stuff; Ms Mencer is
crazy about her
town, and it shows. I hope the inevitable Web site
doesn't lose anything in translation; if she farms the job out to someone,
there's the risk it will be someone who got a good reason for taking the
easy way out.
